چکیده

The front transparent conductive oxide layer is a source of significant optical and electrical losses in silicon heterojunction solar cells because of the trade-off between free-carrier absorption and sheet resistance. We demonstrate that hydrogen-doped indium oxide (IO:H), which has an electron mobility of over 100 cm/V s, reduces these losses compared to traditional, low-mobility transparent conductive oxides, but suffers from high contact resistance at the interface of the IO:H layer and the silver front electrode grid. This problem is avoided by inserting a thin indium tin oxide (ITO) layer at the IO:H/silver interface. Such IO:H/ITO bilayers have low contact resistance, sheet resistance, and free-carrier absorption, and outperform IO:H-only or ITO-only layers in solar cells. We report a certified efficiency of 22.1% for a 4-cm screen-printed silicon heterojunction solar cell employing an IO:H/ITO bilayer as the front transparent conductive oxide. & 2013 Elsevier B.V. Carbon nanotubes grown on In2O3:Sn glass as large area electrodes for organic photovoltaics

The authors report the growth of multiwall carbon nanotubes directly onto indium tin oxide glass via chemical vapor deposition as large area semitransparent electrodes for organic solar cell applications. The rate of nanotube growth on this ternary oxide is greatly reduced as compared to that of silicon dioxide and glass substrates enabling a high degree of control over nanotube height. The str...

Transparent Conducting Oxide Electrodes Requirements for High Efficiency Micromorph Solar Cells

The requirements for a micromorph tandem cell front transparent conductive oxide (TCO) are multiple. This essential layer needs a high transparency, excellent conduction, strong light scattering into silicon and good surface morphology for the subsequent growth of silicon cells. These parameters are all linked and trade-offs have to be found for optimal layer. The optimum combination, taking in...

Enhanced light-conversion efficiency of titanium- dioxide dye-sensitized solar cells with the addition of indium-tin-oxide and fluorine-tin-oxide nanoparticles in electrode films

We prepared of electrodes that consist of TiO2 with addition of tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) or fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) nanoparticles and the application of such electrodes on dye-sensitized solar cell. As compared to TiO2 alone, the addition of ITO and FTO nanoparticles resulted in an efficiency improvement of ~ 20% up to ~ 54% for the TiO2ITO and TiO2-FTO systems, respectively. This im...

Electrical and Optical Characterization of Sputtered Silicon Dioxide, Indium Tin Oxide, and Silicon Dioxide/Indium Tin Oxide Antireflection Coating on Single-Junction GaAs Solar Cells

This study characterized the electrical and optical properties of single-junction GaAs solar cells coated with antireflective layers of silicon dioxide (SiO₂), indium tin oxide (ITO), and a hybrid layer of SiO₂/ITO applied using Radio frequency (RF) sputtering. The conductivity and transparency of the ITO film were characterized prior to application on GaAs cells. Reverse saturation-current and...
